FULL TIME MEN
FAST IS MY NAME (1985) YOUR FACE MY FIST (1988)

In 1985, the Fleshtones released Speed Connection and featured guest guitar by Pete Buck of R.E.M. The same year, Buck also collaborated with Fleshtone axeman Keith Streng on the first Full Time Men record, a three-song 12-inch EP. Three years later, concocting a fuller version of the side band (without further involvement by Buck, although the EP's "I Got Wheels" turns up again), Streng made a full album with three-fourths of the Fleshtones - Gordon Spaeth (sax/harmonica), Bill Milhizer (drums) and Robert Warren (bass) — and a spare guitarist. A busman's holiday of rocking originals and cool covers (by Marvin Gaye and the Creation — now that's versatility!) enthusiastically played by a studio full of low-rent superstars, Your Face My Fist is as easily enjoyable as it's meant to be. (Trouser Press)

Fast Is My Name
I Got Wheels / One More Time / Way Down South

Your Face My Fist
Nothing's Gonna Stop Our Train / One More Time (Encore) / Southern Twitch / I Got Wheels / Four Day Creep / Full Time Men / Critical List / Wreckin' Ball / Making Time / High On Drugs / Baby Don't Do It

your blog is really great, but I was wondering if it's possible to post download links on massmirror or zshare? A lot of people don't have rapidshare accounts...

thanks

I'm the rare bird who likes these Streng-Buck songs better than the Fleshtones and R.E.M. Thank you for making this available.

"Sunset Blvd... yeah, I'm ready to go..."

I can't thank you enough for these two, Angelo! The song "I Got Wheels" has haunted me for more than twenty years. I first heard it on a local radio station's once-a-week, hour-long "alternative" show, back when the EP came out in 1985, but I never knew WHO did that song. The DJ didn't announce the artist or title! Through the years I've described the little bits of the song that I could remember to people who I thought might be able to identify it, but no one ever has. But last week I found a tape in storage that I made of that 1985 broadcast and I heard the entire song again. I had completely forgotten that I recorded that tape, but once I heard all the lyrics I made a guess at the title, then searched and figured out it was FTM, and from there it didn't take too long to find rips out on the p2p. The quality of the mp3s I downloaded last week wasn't that great, but after hearing the songs I was kicking myself for not picking up these albums when they came out. I remember seeing them several times in the "Local Music" section of the record store, and I knew there was some Fleshtones connection there, but I never took the chance and bought them. Then just a few days later, you posted these fantastic sounding rips of both albums along with great artwork. Amazing! I don't know what to say, except that you've made me very, very happy! This is a gift that I'm sure I will listen to and treasure for as long as I live, and I'm extremely grateful to you for putting it out there. Thank you.
