SNEAKERS (1976) (7" EP Carnivorous #1)
Chris Stamey, a casually effective singer and superlative melodicist, began in the collegiate Chapel Hill power pop legend Sneakers. Six quirky power pop originals engineered by Don Dixon, Sneakers was the first vinyl appearance of this seminal (if little-heard) band containing Stamey, drummer Will Rigby and (participating as a guest and family friend) Mitch Easter. The record boasts such lyrically anxious Stamey creations as "Love's Like a Cuban Crisis," "Condition Red" and "On the Brink." These recordings are taken from the original 7" EP. The same songs + the second "In The Red" 12" EP + nine other songs have been remastered and appear on the 2007 Sneakers compilation "Nonsequitur For Silence" available either from the official dB's website, from Not Lame or from any store online. The Sneakers recordings were also reissued around 1994 by the ESD label ("Racket" is now out of print) (Trouser Press)

Merci .

Angelo, Hello! Greetings from Boston. Did you know there is another band called the Sneakers and it is excellent jangly power pop to boot! I found their album about 15 years ago while searching the cut out bins in a Buffalo, NY chain. The album is called Ear Cartoons and you've got to hear it to believe it. I have ripped the vinyl to wavs and would be happy to send you a copy of the files and cover scans (I don't have a blog). I've checked off the e-mail option in the event that you would like to get in contact with me. I can also grab the files to MP3 and attach one to an e-mail in the event you would like to hear a sample.
Great site here/hear and I'm finding tons of stuff here that I grabbed on vinyl back when issued. The Fools posts are brilliant!

hi,
sure i'dlike to hear those Sneakers - are they the very same Sneakers who covered "things we said today" ?
anyway, the best way to send me the album would be to upload the WAV files via megaupload in a rar folder (no audio compression required, it's in the options of winrar), artwork will be also welcome, i'll post the album on the blog
Angelo, Not sure if they are the same ones who covered "Things...". The album is at home; I do seem to recall that they hailed from Seattle. I'll RAR the wavs, scan the cover and post it on megaupload site. I've never done that before but am willing to give it a shot. You'll have to join the scans (I'm not versed in photoshop [yet]). Will send a follow up comment here when that's done. Thanks for hosting.
that sounds nice, if the lp is on Bearsville, then this is the very same sneakers who covered "things we said today"
when you RAR a WAV file, please be sure to uncheck the "not compress audio" box in the RAR options - also protect the rar with a password - shot me your email, i won't post it
thank you. much better than anticipated.
