THE BENT BACKED TULIPS - LOOKING THROUGH (1990)

Dramarama had basically recorded more material than anyone was going to release at the time, so while the cream of the tunes became "Stuck in Wonderamaland", the rest surfaced as this collection first released in France. "Looking Through" is at once a rough-and-ready tribute to many different things garage, from '60s forebears to early-'80s punk/wave, and a chance for Dramarama's own special blend to surface. At its best, "Looking Through" offers up tracks that could have easily made a full-blown Dramarama album -- the melancholy emotional confusion of "Come (To Meet Me)" is especially fine, the most consistent treat throughout comes thanks to the many different covers, starting with the ripping version of Stevie Wonder's "I Don't Know Why",.The Faces' "Ooh La La" gets a sweet, uplifting acoustic take with some great Easdale singing. The album was later augmented by a further nine tunes from those sessions for its mid-'90s American re-release on Eggbert Records.

THE NERVES EP (1976) (1st Edition)

According to Paul Collins,  the black back cover which mentions "The Nerves Records Co.” is the 1st. back sleeve. It  also has an address in Hollywood. Paul Collins also said that Bomp pressed the other edition with the white back sleeve.

I guess the black back sleeve is the proper 1st pressing since the white one doesn’t list the "Nerves Record Co." info.

THE TREND - LUCKY DAY (1981)

In 1981, The Trend cut a single at what was then known as Kennett Sound Studio. The two songs were "Lucky Day" and the still popular "She's Hi-Fi," both written by John McMullan. The single came out just as Collier, Mitchell, and McMullan were headed to college at the University of Missouri in Columbia. Fuller decided to attend school at Murray State, in Kentucky, leaving the band in the process.

"Columbia was the perfect place for The Trend to develop," McMullan said. "Both sides of the single received airplay in Columbia, primarily on KCOU, acollege FM station that had a rabid underground following," he added. "The station's following translated into familiarity of our name with the new wave/power pop/punk crowd."

The Trend recruited Bill Joslyn, a Mizzou student from Lebanon, Mo., to replace Fuller, and decided to add Mike Astrachan on lead guitar.

"After playing a little while, the newer version of The Trend made the LP, THE TREND IS IN! in the summer of 1982,"

ROCKIN' HORSE - YES IT IS (1971, Expanded 2004)
The goal of Rockin' Horse was to revive the classic Liverpool sound -- in that regard, Yes It Is is a phenomenal album and an even better CD, filled up as it is with six bonus tracks. Jimmy Campbell and ex-Merseybeats bassist Billy Kinsley delivered up a record with a good rootsy feel to everything here, and the stuff that fits into a Merseybeat groove is authentic right down to the roughness in the bass work. Some of the rest is closer in spirit to what the Band shot for on Music From Big Pink and their self-titled album. Not all of it works, but what does -- which is most of it -- is a bracing update of mid-'60s British rock & roll. AMG
