THE ULTIMATE POWER POP GUIDE - VOLUME 5 (2008)
Fifth part (101->125) of the unauthorized best of the ultimate power pop guide. "Yankee Rose" and "The Pinkees" are the ones (read never reissued) really hard to find (try ebay). "Stars on Mars" were a swedish band on Polar Records (same label as Abba). "The Bongos" and "The Elvis Brothers" CD's are the scarce ones.
Note: Special thanks to a southern friend who gave me a copy of the "Yankee Rose" LP.

Hi,
I was wondering whether you would make it with this part of the list since a couple of records are REALLY hard to find.
Apparently, howewer, nothing is impossible to powerpopcriminalsblogspot!
Kudos.
Now, what about posting the whole YANKEE ROSE LP one of these days since this one is the most elusive record of all those listed in John Borack´s fantastic book?
Thanks again for sharing such gems.

mmm...so why there is no Nerves with Jack Lee in the John Borack's list ? In my list they would be at number one
1. Another vote for Yankee Rose LP being posted.
2. Another cheer for how great this series of posts have been.
3. And a shout out to Stewart in Glasgow, because so many great pop bands have come from Scotland.

Great series, great songs, great work!!!!
Thanks

Great work...and a great post from the best blog on th web!
Thanks again for all the great work here. There are so many more comps you could do just based on John Borack's book! You could put together some of the other music lists in the book -for instance : 30 great US indie power pop 45's, 10 great overlooked UK power pop gems, or 30 landmark vinyl albums from power pop's golden age (a sampler from this list)
It was great to find this blog and get to hear tracks from some of the more obscure albums on Borack's list. I haven't been able to discover anything about Yankee Rose for example. I'd also like to see it posted someday. I look forward to exploring more over the next couple of days. Thanks so much!!!!
