VARIOUS - AMERICATHON OST (1979)

At The time of its release, this original motion picture soundtrack was worthy 'cause of the Nick Lowe and Elvis Costello songs, but also noteworthy was one Eddie Money song ("Get A Move On") co-written with Paul Collins, featuring Paul (guitar & vocals) and produced by Bruce Botnick.
This outrageous farce (based on a play by Firesign Theatre alumni Philip Proctor and Peter Bergman) features cameos from Elvis Costello, Jay Leno, Meat Loaf and the Del Rubio Triplets, and is narrated by George Carlin. The Beach Boys contribute to the musical soundtrack. AMG

Oh, man, what a lousy movie...

Awesome. I had the vinyl -- this is truly the last great vocal of Al Jardine in an original Beach Boys song.

I loved this soundtrack when it came out. Movie was pretty bad, but the music rocked. I agree the beach boys song is awesome, andI did enjoy Zane Busby's musical # in the flick, which is on the OST. Thanks for posting another lost gem!

Wow, I never thought I'd see this LP again. That Beach Boys song is my favourite of theirs. I didn't hear any mention of this film (or soundtrack) when Harvey Korman passed away last week. Thank you, Great Gazoo and thank you PPC for this amazing find.
