VARIOUS - ROMANCES 85 (1985)
Romance was a label launched by Jean-William Thoury (manager, lyricist of the french Power Pop band Bijou) after the split. The label signed some new french bands which were more or less satisfying. The best part being the unreleased Bijou song, a cover of Patti Labelle unavailable elsewhere, even on the 3-CD Box Set released in 2000. Dynamite (Bijou drummer) is also involved with a song which could have been included on any of the Bijou originals albums. Les Coronados, Les Injectes and specially Hot Pants are also noteworthy. There're also three girls called Les Sucettes hailing from Dijon (just like Les Calamites) and singing "je ne suis pas une calamite" (translation: "i'm not a calamité")...

My brother used to play in the psychedelic Kleps and I remember the recording sessions of that sampler, the singer is now tour operator for garage-punk-bands.
Singer of hot pants is now big fame international singer Manu Chao, i saw the hot pant a dozen times, always HOT!!

Hello there; nice blog, it really deserves its reputation. I loved Romance Records, if only for being so clumsy - just like this shy girl on the cover, she's trying but...
For some reason, 'Le fond de la rivière Kwai' is one of my favorite songs of these years, also maybe it's a bit ham-fisted, but so sincere.
