THE DYNETTE SET - ROCKERS & RECLINERS (1983)

Released in 1983 on Wolf Records. Scott McCaughey,who had just moved to Seattle from the bay area [San Fran.], formed his first northwest band with some friends & his future wife [Christy McWilson], Dave Dewy (drums), Bill Larson (guitars), Scott (bass, guitar & keyboards), Brent Pennington (guitars) & Riki Mafume, Christy McWilson & Shelly Stockstill - the girl group vocals. It was a bit of a throw back & tribute to the great girl groups of the early 60's, but there were also 3 originals by Scott McCaughey, one by singer Shelly Stockstill & one by their benifactor, Jim Wolfe. The covers are well chosen classics by Phil Spector, Sonny Bono, Nancy Sinatra & others. The band developed a very good following in the clubs & even made a video for "Shoot the Curl" that was shown on local cable TV. The fuse didn't quite ignite the explosion they were hoping for, but is a very worthy effort. Scott McCaughey went on to form the Young Fresh Fellows & Minus 5 (he will also play with R.E.M.).
