SNAKES - TEENAGE HEAD (1976)

After leaving the Duck Deluxe in 1974 Nick Garvey (bass) formed the Snakes (in which was also Robert Gotobed, who later played in Wire). Snakes released only one single in 1976. A cover of the Flamin' Groovies' classic (Teenage Head) which had also been recorded by Ducks Deluxe (Taxi To The Terminal Zone 1975). The Snakes version was released on a 7" by Dynamite (the Dutch label) The Snakes version is miles ahead of the Ducks Deluxe version. Then Nick started to form a new band with ex-Snakes Richard Wernham (Ricky Slaughter) and in January 1977 the band was ready to start rehearsals as The Motors.

The Snakes 'Teenage Head' version still is one of my favorite. Never heard the Garvey solo LP. Perhaps too MOR for my R'n'R ears! Anyway interessant listening. Thanks.

Good to see you back again. Don't let the a#@holes get you down. I'm sure that most musicians whose music is out of print and hard to find are grateful for the exposure you give and the interest in the music you generate and it's not about the money.
