KRAMER vs KRAMER (STIFF - CHISWICK DEA/SUK 1)

While Wayne Kramer was in the penitentiary, Stiff Records and Chiswick Records had gotten together and they had put out two tracks as a benefit for Wayne Kramer, and they were gonna give all the money when Wayne Kramer got out of prison. The single (with a numbered pic sleeve) had to be paid no more and no less than £1.00.

Wayne Kramer
Ramblin' Rose / Get Some

End of the battles (at least for now).

This is the end of the Stiff vs Chiswick battle. At the end of 1977, Jake Riviera quit Stiff Records and took with him Elvis Costelo, Nick Lowe and the Yachts to form Radar Records. Any label without Elvis Costello and Nick Lowe could have died, but not Stiff. The new Stiff will be more successful than ever with Ian Dury, Jona Lewie, Kirsty MacColl and later with Madness, but the golden age of Stiff was behind.

I'd like to thank all the readers who have enjoyed all these battles as much as i have. Thank you again for the comments. Much appreciated.

And you just have to love the catalogue number for the Stiffwick single for Wayne Kramer... DEA/SUK 1.

DEA Suck!

Yes, he was in jail for drug related crimes.

What, no Feelies??? They were Stiff's finest band. Check out Fa Ce La!

Hi There!

Honestly? I'm a poor sod who don't think he has anything to add.. in comments or in the blogosphere. However, I'm at your site same time everyday and read all you write and listen to all your posts since I found this fantastic blog. I'm more than greatful for all I have learnt and all the music you share. This last week with the Chiswick and stiff contest and to top it all off, Wayne Kramers fantastic Rambling Rose, has been like a trip back to... those days kind of.

Just wanted to say that it's not only grab and say nothing, at least I am one of those anonymous admirers of your work and I finally had the nerve to say so.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for all this amazing music (even the stuff that is not all that amazing, which is very little). I own a lot of these, but mine are beat, so it's great to get such good rips of everything. I intend to bother my co-workers for weeks to come with these.

How about those early Beserkley Records? I know that you have posted some already but... there were some great singles (and LP's) with the magnificent Rubinoos in the mix.
Great site
