STIFF BUY 9 vs CHISWICK S 9

At last, Chiswick is going Power Pop with the first Radio Stars single, one of the best Power Pop single of the era bringing a fabulous back sleeve. On the Stiff side, the Motorhead 7" was not released because the quintessential head banger's band had been signed by Chiswick in the meantime. The Motorhead single was only available later with the limited edition of the Stiff Box including the first 10 Stiff singles.

CHISWICK S 9 (1977)
Radio Stars
Dirty Pictures / Sail Away

STIFF BUY 9 (1977)
Motorhead
White Line Fever / Leaving Here

The votes
Stiff BUY 9: 32%
Chiswick S 9 : 67% (winner)

Not downloading any of these so far as I've already got them all, and I'm sure I'm not alone in that... But I'm having great fun with the voting, another great idea PPC, well done!

I have both singles and this was a very tough choice ... the closest win for Radio Stars of all the battles so far ;)

I always get a lot of fun in PPC blog. It's awesome! How do you manage to find new surprises everyday?
Thanks, Angelo

This was unfair, both are fucking amazing singles. Motorhead has recorded better though, so Radio Stars it is.

What memories, Stiff & Chiswick, bought most at the time.
Radio Stars is still fun to listen to.

Best wishes from Sweden

Radio Stars without a doubt, and they still had their best to come. The absolutely wonderful From A Rabbit single, released one year after Dirty Pictures.

The two Motorhead songs were available on one of the Stiff best of LPs. Both are great songs. But I have been a raving Radio Stars fan for years now. Martin Gordon is one of my favorite songwriters (and he once said he was jealous of one of my songs, at least my getting to it before he did). So I have to go with them.

This is an impossible choice. Both Motorhead songs are classic and Dirty Pictures is also great. I have to go for both!
